Lifehacker recently pointed me to an excellent free service: join.me. The website allows you to quickly create a virtual meeting by sharing your desktop. All you have to do is point your browser at http://join.me. click “Share”, and then click OK or Run. A small program runs and gives you a link to share. Email or IM that link to the folks you’d like to invite to your meeting. They will be able to join your meeting simply by clicking the link. Once in the meeting you can IM, use the provided conference number, send files, or share control of your computer, all from a slick minimal interface. If you don’t need to send video I highly recommend this as a quick way to create virtual meetings. Give it a shot.
