Archiving can really help when you have an oversized inbox and your ruthless IT department has cut off your email. Here’s a quick and dirty explanation about how to make Outlook 2003 archive your email for you automatically.
- Open Outlook.
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Options. You see the Options dialog box.
- Click the Other tab.
- Click the AutoArchive… button. You see the AutoArchive dialog box.
- The defaults should be fine. If you want, you can change how often Outlook archives things and how old an email has to be before it will be archived.
- Click OK in the Autoarchive dialog box, then click OK in the Options dialog box. Outlook asks if you want to archive now.
Outlook will occasionally remind you to archive from now on.
Note: Archiving removes your email from our mail server and stores it on your computer’s hard drive you might also want to consider backing up your archive.
